Health and Wellbeing
At Oulton Academy, we believe it is vital that all members of the community know how to look after their mental health. We aim to promote positive mental health for every member of our student body and staff.
The importance of social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) is recognised within the School Development Plan with the aim of creating a successful Mental Wellbeing Strategy to ensure that students receive the mental health support they need quickly and efficiently and develop an environment where all students feel happy and are able to flourish.

Parents and Carers
One in six school aged children has a mental health problem. Nine out of ten children with mental health problems experience stigma and discrimination. We know that anyone in our community may need additional emotional support to cope with life’s challenges.
Oulton Academy is committed to developing a whole school positive mental health and wellbeing ethos which raises awareness and understanding and reduces stigma amongst students, staff and parent/carers.
Oulton Academy aims to help young people express their feelings, build their confidence and emotional resilience and therefore their capacity to learn. Teaching students the signs of poor mental health and self-help techniques to support good mental health is key as well as providing support at an early stage in school.
