Student Engagement
Oulton Academy prides its self on the extensive range of engagement opportunities it offers students throughout their five years at the academy.
Both within and outside of the classroom, effort and success are rewarded equally and reflect the underlying values that drives Oulton Academy.
Individual Advice and Guidance (IAG) underpin our curriculum model ensuring our students have regular points of discussion with senior leaders and parents/ carers about their study choices, changing interests and developing aspirations. This IAG culminates in a series of interviews/ appointments with our careers team who ensure that Post 16 opportunities are maximised and that our NEET figure (Not in Education Employment or Training) is 0.
All courses at KS4 are certain subject combinations. We build our timetables around individual students’ choices removing the restriction of option blocks to create greater freedom for students to deepen their selected study. Level 1/2 courses are all studied across 2 years.
Student engagement feeds directly into Oulton Academy’s Character in Schools Kitemark Plus, a nationally recognised framework which ensures the academy’s values are at the heart of everything we do and demonstrates that staff take an explicit, planned and reflective approach to the cultivation of positive character qualities in their pupils.
