Academy Students Take a Magical Journey to Warner Bros. Studio Tour: The Making of Harry Potter
In a spellbinding collaboration between Design & Technology (DT) and Media students, a group from the academy recently embarked on an unforgettable trip to Warner Bros. Studio Tour: The Making of Harry Potter. The excursion gave students a first-hand experience of cinematic craftsmanship and provided inspiration for their own creative projects.
The day began with an engaging design workshop where students explored the set design process by examining some of the original models used in the Harry Potter films. This immersive experience was followed by a mise en scene workshop, which highlighted the intricate details that bring each scene to life, showcasing how subtle elements combine to create an authentic magical world.
The group then toured the studios, which were specially decorated to showcase the theme of the Dark Arts. Students marvelled at the live performances by actors portraying Death Eaters, who captivated the crowd with a chilling routine.
The DT students took full advantage of the experience, capturing the essence of the sets in their sketches, which they plan to incorporate into their GCSE coursework. The creativity didn't stop there, though; several students also tried out the green screen area, where they donned wizarding robes and soared through the skies on broomsticks—a photo op they won’t soon forget!
