Year 11 Information Evening Inspires Students for a Successful Final Year

This week, Oulton Academy welcomed Year 11 students and their families to our annual Year 11 Information Evening, an important event designed to ensure every student is fully prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in this crucial academic year.

The evening brought together staff, students and parents to share key information about GCSE success, effective revision strategies, attendance expectations and the wide range of support available throughout Year 11. Our Heads of English, Maths and Science delivered informative presentations, providing valuable guidance on how students can maximise their performance and achieve their full potential.

A key feature of the evening was our Post-16 Futures Fair, where students had the opportunity to meet representatives from a range of sixth form colleges, further education providers and apprenticeship organisations. These conversations encouraged students to begin thinking seriously about their next steps and the exciting pathways available to them after Oulton Academy.

Families also received information about the extensive interventions, revision opportunities and pastoral support that will be available throughout the year. By working together, we aim to ensure that every student feels confident, supported and motivated as they prepare for their GCSE examinations.

Principal John Higgins spoke about the importance of ambition, resilience and maintaining high standards throughout Year 11:

"Year 11 is a hugely important year, but it is also an exciting one. Our students have the talent and potential to achieve great things, and it is our role to support them every step of the way. By working together with families and maintaining high expectations, we can ensure that every student leaves Oulton Academy with qualifications and opportunities that open doors for their future."

The evening reflected the positive culture and high aspirations that continue to drive improvement across the academy. We would like to thank all students, parents, carers and visiting providers who attended and contributed to such a successful event.

We look forward to supporting our Year 11 cohort throughout the year and celebrating their achievements in the months ahead.
