Ms J. McLellan

I have worked at the academy since 2013, when I joined the school as KS4 coordinator in English. I am currently the Deputy Head of English and I was recently appointed the role of Associate Assistant Principal with responsibility for KS4 Intervention and Independent Learning. My current role is to encourage learners to achieve their full potential, particularly in Year 11, by supporting them to become independent learners; build resilience and prepare them for their GCSE examinations and beyond.

I am incredibly proud to work at Oulton Academy and have been lucky enough to see so many positive changes take place over the years. It’s great to be part of a fantastic team of staff but more importantly working alongside the students who continue to surprise, motivate and inspire me!

I began my career as a drama teacher in Hull, but my passion for English successively led to English teaching; I have taught this subject for over 12 years. I have a love of reading which began when I was very young. Reading not only develops a creative and empathetic mind, it is ultimately the gateway to all knowledge! I hope my love of reading inspires others
