Oulton Academy Celebrates Year 11 Leavers with Heartfelt Farewell
Oulton Academy marked a significant milestone today as it bid farewell to its Year 11 students during a touching leavers assembly. The event, held in the school's auditorium, was a mix of nostalgia and celebration, reflecting on the students' journey and looking forward to their future endeavours. This was one of the final times all the students would be in school at the same time before they finish their examinations.
The assembly began with a lively presentation of Year 7 photos brought both laughter and a few tears, as students saw their younger selves—wide-eyed and full of promise—transition into the poised individuals they are today.
Learning Manager, Mr. Mills, delivered an emotional farewell, emphasising the growth and resilience shown by the students throughout their time at Oulton Academy. He praised their achievements and encouraged them to carry forward the lessons learned into their future pursuits.
Principal Mr. Higgins also addressed the assembly, offering words of encouragement and positivity. "You have all grown immensely, not just academically but as individuals," he said. "As you step into the next phase of your lives, remember that Oulton Academy will always be a part of your story. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you.
Following the assembly, the students gathered outside for a more informal but equally memorable tradition—signing each other's shirts. This practice, rich in camaraderie and sentiment, allowed students to leave with personal mementos of their friends and teachers.
The day concluded with a spectacular whole-school guard of honour. Staff and students from other year groups lined the path as the Year 11 students made their final exit from the academy. Amidst cheers, applause, and a few emotional hugs, the departing students walked through the guard of honour, symbolising their transition from students to alumni.
The atmosphere was one of celebration and pride as the Oulton Academy community came together to honour the achievements and memories of the Class of 2024. With their shirts adorned with messages of love and encouragement, and hearts full of hope and ambition, the students left the academy grounds ready to face the future.
We wish all our Year 11 leavers the very best for their future!
