New Student Leadership - Prefects

Student voice is students actively participating in decision-making at school on things which shape their educational experiences.

Student voice is more than just students 'having a say' and 'being heard'. To be successful, schools must value the perspectives and opinions of students and act on them in a way that genuinely shapes learning and decision-making at the school.

At Oulton Academy, we are looking create a brand new Prefect Leadership Team. This will include two head prefects and deputies, and a team of 20 prefects.  

What are the benefits of being part of the student leadership team?

• It will help you develop your communication, organisation and leadership skills
• It will help you build confidence through taking on responsibility
• It will help you develop skills that are vital in any career path
• You will be part of our leadership culture where teachers and students work together to lead and manage change and make a difference
• It will help your application to college/apprenticeship or any part time job applications you make
• You will be able to help develop a school culture with a strong base in our academy values

What are some of the things I could be involved in?

• To help set up and support charity fundraising events and projects within school
• Supporting with school wide events such as open evenings and parents evenings
• Supporting with the presentation of assemblies
• Surveying fellow students around the day-to-day school life
• Meeting with teachers and members of SLT to discuss ideas presented
• Selected students will be part of an interview panel taking part in the interview process for perspective new academy staff.

How to apply to be part of the student leadership team

• Application forms are available from N11. An electronic copy will be sent out to all students. 
• Complete the application form and send it to Mr Rigden electronically at K.Rigden@oultonacademy.org.uk or place it in the tray in N11
• Applications must be in by the end of Friday 18^th of November.
• Your application will be reviewed along with your attendance, punctuality and behaviour points.
• If you are successful, you will be notified by email and a full list of successful applicants will be displayed on the screens around the academy.
• Successful applicants will receive a new tie showing their membership of the student leadership team
