Oulton Academy Showcases Outstanding Provision and Core Values in Academic Visit

On Tuesday, Oulton Academy had the privilege of welcoming a group of esteemed academics to review the outstanding provision we offer to our pupils and to engage in broader discussions about the state of education in the 21st century. Our visitors included Bev Peartree and Salik Miah, lecturers at Leeds Trinity University, as well as Professor Sigamoney Naicker from the University of the Western Cape in South Africa.

The day began with a tour focused on personal development and inclusivity, reflecting our commitment to ensuring that every student thrives. Our guests explored our highly praised SEN provision, met with key staff across various aspects of the school—including teaching and learning, safeguarding, and attendance—and participated in both staff and pupil panels. Throughout the day, the question of the value of education was raised, and our visitors strongly affirmed that Oulton Academy truly upholds the principle that every pupil’s education is paramount. We are dedicated to providing the necessary support and resources wherever they are needed.

Principal John Higgins expressed his pride in the academy’s approach: “At Oulton Academy, our mission is to foster a learning environment where every child feels supported and empowered to achieve their full potential. This visit reinforced our commitment to inclusivity and excellence, and I’m delighted that our values of Ambition, Resilience, Respect, and Kindness were recognised by our esteemed guests.”

The day proved to be an enjoyable and thought-provoking experience for everyone involved, aligning with our core values that drive the success and well-being of our students.
