Year 10 Students Get Hands-On Medical Experience with School Hospital Initiative
A group of ambitious Year 10 students with aspirations of working in the medical field recently took part in an exciting work experience opportunity—without even leaving the school grounds!
As part of an immersive medical workshop, a ‘hospital’ was brought into the academy, allowing students to gain practical experience in key healthcare procedures. They had the chance to use an ultrasound machine, take blood, record an ECG, measure blood pressure, and perform various other essential medical tasks under expert guidance.
Following their training, the Year 10 students took on the role of mentors, delivering an engaging workshop for Year 7 pupils. They demonstrated the different readings and procedures, passing on their newly acquired knowledge and skills to the younger students.
This invaluable experience not only deepened their understanding of medical careers but also helped them develop crucial skills that they can carry forward into future roles within the NHS and beyond.
This initiative has inspired many students to explore careers in healthcare, and the school looks forward to providing more hands-on learning opportunities in the future.
