Oulton Academy Students Explore Exciting Careers in the Army
Oulton Academy recently hosted an engaging and informative morning for Year 10 students, offering a unique glimpse into the diverse career opportunities available within the Army. From soldiers and medics to engineers and dog handlers, the session provided valuable insights into the various roles that contribute to the nation’s defence.
The event began with an inspiring talk from a team of Army representatives, who shared their personal experiences and the extensive range of careers available in military service. Following the presentation, students participated in a series of team-building exercises designed to foster collaboration and problem-solving skills. Activities included navigating a 'minefield' of cones while blindfolded, engaging in a tyre stacking challenge, and a spirited attempt to capture an 'explosive backpack.'
The morning culminated in a Q&A session, where students eagerly asked questions about the realities of Army life, including training, challenges, and the support systems in place for personnel.
Oulton Academy expressed its gratitude to the Army team for providing such a rich and enlightening experience. We are proud to offer our students exposure to different career paths. This session not only informed them about the Army but also helped build essential life skills.
The Army work experience morning not only illuminated the varied career options within the military but also instilled a sense of teamwork and problem-solving amongst students. Oulton Academy looks forward to further collaborations that inspire and prepare students for their future endeavours.
