Year 8 Business Challenge Day 2: Innovation, Competition, and Inspiring Success

Day two of the highly anticipated Year 8 Business Challenge proved to be as dynamic and successful as the first, wrapping up an incredible two-day event filled with creativity, hard work, and entrepreneurial spirit at Oulton Academy.

The second half of the Year 8 cohort began their day with an inspiring motivational talk from business expert and former The Apprentice candidate, Adam Corbally. Adam's insights into the world of business provided the students with the inspiration and tools they needed before diving into the core challenge: developing a unique product and business plan.

The competition was fierce, with all groups working exceptionally hard to develop innovative ideas, crunch their numbers, and prepare compelling presentations. The academy was buzzing with energy as students collaborated, negotiated, and refined their business strategies.

Judges faced the difficult task of selecting winners across several categories, celebrating various aspects of business excellence:

  • Best Idea and Unique Selling Point (USP): Awarded to the concept demonstrating the most innovation and market appeal.
  • Best Numbers and Profit Accounts: Recognizing the groups with the most sound financial planning and projected profitability.
  • Best Jingle: Several groups showcased their flair for marketing and creativity, with some even using instruments to bring their catchy jingles to life during their presentations.

While the competition was tough and many excellent ideas were presented, there could only be one overall winner: congratulations to Group 4 on their outstanding performance and victory!

Oulton Academy would like to extend its sincere gratitude to Adam Corbally and his son, Caleb, for hosting such a fantastic and memorable event. Their expertise and enthusiasm made the Year 8 Business Challenge a truly invaluable learning experience for all involved. We are incredibly proud of all the Year 8 students for their effort and professionalism throughout the challenge.
