Nature Explorers Take Over Golden Acre Park!

Ten of our most adventurous and nature-loving students recently traded their desks for the great outdoors, embarking on an exciting field trip to Golden Acre Park in Leeds.

Led by the Carlton Trust Lead for Outdoor Learning, the group spent the day fully immersed in the joys of the natural world. From the moment they arrived, the students embraced the freedom of the park’s vast green spaces, discovering that some of the best lessons happen outside the four walls of a classroom.

Climbing, Playing, and Discovering

The day was packed with classic outdoor fun. The students tested their strength and coordination by climbing trees, while others embraced their creativity by playing with sticks—turning simple woodland finds into tools and treasures.

It wasn't all just high-energy play, though. The group took frequent moments to soak in the stunning spring beauty of the park. Under the expert guidance of the Trust Lead, the students also sharpened their "nature detective" skills by:

  • Identifying a diverse selection of native plants.
  • Spotting and naming various local bird species.

A Feathery Finale

A definite highlight of the trip was a peaceful visit to the water's edge. The group spent a significant amount of time watching the ducks on the pond, observing their behaviour and enjoying the tranquil atmosphere of the lakeside.

Looking Ahead

The trip was a resounding success, proving that a bit of fresh air and a sense of wonder are the perfect ingredients for a great day of learning. Our young explorers returned to school tired but happy, and they are already asking: "Where is our next outdoor adventure?"
