Post-16 Open Days – Looking Ahead to Year 11

As students prepare to start Year 11 in September, it's a great time for students to begin thinking about the exciting opportunities available after GCSEs.

Throughout the coming months, many local colleges and sixth forms will be holding open days. These events give students and their parents/carers the chance to visit campuses, meet teachers and current students, explore courses and facilities, and learn more about student life. Attending open days can help students make informed decisions about the post-16 pathway that best matches their interests, strengths, and future aspirations.

Whether students are considering A Levels, vocational qualifications, T Levels, apprenticeships, or other post-16 options, visiting a range of providers is a valuable way to compare what is on offer. It's also an opportunity to ask questions about courses, entry requirements, enrichment opportunities, student support, and transport.

We encourage all students who will be starting Year 11 in September, along with their parents/carers, to attend the open days of any colleges or sixth forms they are interested in. Visiting a variety of providers before making applications later in the academic year can help students feel confident about their choices.

Please visit the individual college and sixth form websites for full details of their open day events, including dates, times, and booking information, as these may change throughout the year.

Starting to explore post-16 options early can make the transition from school much easier and help students look ahead with confidence to the next stage of their education.
