Alec Shelbrooke MP Visits Oulton Academy
Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming Alec Shelbrooke MP to Oulton Academy.
Throughout his visit, he was able to speak to many staff and students about their experiences of life at Oulton. As part of his visit, our student leadership team were able to have a Q&A session with Mr Shelbrooke asking him questions about his party's policies and how he can support our school and community.
Our students presented themselves very professionally as they we able to explain to Mr Shelbrooke how the Academy is able to support them in becoming active parts of our local community. One student explained how over the last few years, the school has enabled her to develop the confidence to reach for her dream of being in the Royal Navy, a similar role that Mr Shelbrooke had himself. Other students spoke about how the academy has enabled them to have a voice, whether that is as part of the LGBTQ+ group Sage, or from being supported by our very own Haven staff.
Mr Shelbrooke has visited the school several times during his time as MP but commented that he was blown away by the positive changes that are evident in the school and was particularly impressed by the outstanding knowledge and altitudes of the student body.
